Description:

ChampionX has an immediate need for a QC Chemist located in Calgary. The QC Chemist is responsible for a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory operations and test method development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.Sc. Chemistry or Chemical Technology/Engineering Diploma
  • Superior analytical skills combined with initiative, sound judgment, flexibility, research and decision-making competence
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Experience working in a lab environment
  • Understanding of effective experimental design and analysis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with computer database applications is required, with knowledge of SAP Quality Module being preferred
  • Practical understanding of chemistry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently

Responsibilities:

  • Routine quality control testing of internally submitted samples from our manufacturing facility
  • Sample preparation and disposition
  • Complete instrument calibration and maintenance procedures
  • Maintain the calibration files as a requirement of our ISO 9001 Certification
  • Liaise with internal customers and Technical Specialists regarding product quality
  • Maintain documentation and files for all relevant quality control procedures and results
  • Calculate material additions to batches based on test results, and assisting in batch troubleshooting activities
  • Identify ways to improve and recommends changes to internal processes where necessary
  • Enter and maintain SAP data affecting product quality
