• Perform pulp physical testing
• Perform asbestos testing
• Prepare chemicals for mill control tests
• Coordinate annual calibration and maintenance of testing equipment
• Collect/analyze chemicals and samples from various stages of production
• Troubleshoot upset conditions and develop corrective actions for the impact on quality
• Analyze historical data for diagnoses of quality excursions
• Prepare, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for testing methods
• Support the QA department in maintaining QMS certifications
• Tabulate and report analytical data in a clear and concise manner
• Train and audit operators on test methods as required
• Maintain laboratory working areas in a clean and tidy condition
• Follow departmental and mill safety rules
• Assist and relieves other technicians as required
• Assist Process Engineers on process projects
• Provide coverage for the other positions in the department
• Advise supervisor when unusual conditions are noted
• Work with environmental team when required
• Organization and execution of projects
• Assist with WHMIS Program
