JOB DESCRIPTION – QHSE TRAINING OFFICER
Location: Based at Sellafield Working Pattern: Full Time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
The QHSE Training officer role is an integral part of the QHSE Team, proudly supporting Mitie in their objective to ensure new and existing colleagues are appropriately trained to fulfil the development and execution of strategies to ensure that all staff members are fully SQEP (Suitably Qualified Experienced Person) trained to achieve full training within the specified timeframes. It is crucial to maintain current knowledge of policies, procedures, SQEP obligations, and Mitie QHSE requirements to maximize team competence.

Working in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, Ops Managers, the wider QHSE Team and Mitie Group L&D team, the role requires individuals to work autonomously with passion to deliver the exceptional every day, being fully committed across the Cumbria Consortium Contract
Responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The main duties and accountabilities of this job involve being an active member of the Training department, where the individual is expected to role model Mitie values, You Are Mitie principles, and Professional standards while challenging behaviour that is not aligned. The individual will manage the completion of the Training Plan and the delivery of initial and refresher training, ensuring adequate resources are maintained for all programmes. They will provide advice and guidance to operational managers and employees on training and competency issues, making sure that operational managers are informed of their legal and company responsibilities and are competent to fulfil these obligations.
In this position, your primary responsibilities involve identifying and implementing risk reduction strategies for Mitie companies and clients. You’ll stay informed about relevant legislation and codes of practice, ensuring operational managers and personnel have the necessary technical competence for safe work. Additionally, you’ll mentor and coach operational managers, provide guidance on QHSE matters, conduct assessments, investigate incidents, manage QHSE documentation, and collaborate with the QHSE team to develop and implement strategies. Attending meetings, maintaining professional development, and liaising with enforcing authorities are also part of your role .
