How you make a difference:
As a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA), you’ll play a crucial role in assisting with medication administration, inventory management, and the safe storage of pharmaceutical items. Working under close supervision, you’ll ensure adherence to protocols and procedures while maintaining accurate records. Your attention to detail and commitment to patient safety will be paramount in supporting the healthcare team’s efforts in delivering quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications under RN supervision, ensuring compliance with Facility policies, Pharmacy Board regulations, and safety principles.
  • Document medication administration accurately on the Medication Administration Record (MAR), including any medications not administered and reasons for non-administration.
  • Adhere to infection control techniques, incorporate universal precautions, and uphold the six rights of medication administration.
  • Participate in data collection, medication audits, and performance improvement activities, promptly reporting adverse reactions to supervisors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the medication cart, reorder and replace medications and supplies as needed, and uphold patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience

  • One (1) year related experience in a medical environment preferred.
  • Completed QMAP training and passed competency evaluation in accordance with program requirements.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have current CPR Certification and provide QMAP ID number for online verification.
