REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, SKILLS, BACKGROUND, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in food science, microbiology, quality assurance or a related discipline
  • Education and/or job related experience in Food or Natural Health Product (NHP) quality assurance (ideally 2-3 years)
  • Familiarity with Health Canada’s SFCR, drug and NHP regulations and GMPs.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and GFSI would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and ensure significant issues are clearly communicated and resolved in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a well-organized manner
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Detail oriented: take ownership for the accuracy and completeness of tasks
  • Thrive in an environment of change
  • Highly effective communication skills in English: written, listening and verbal
  • Advanced computer skills (MS-Office suites, Oracle Applications)

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors GMP compliance and conducts GMP audits at set frequencies
  • Clearly communicates quality or regulatory concerns and non-compliances to relevant departments
  • Technical writing and revising standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work procedures
  • Finished product label inspection, release and revisions as required
  • Maintains supplier quality documentation
  • Completing formula requests as needed
  • Participates in GMP and food safety training activities
  • Maintains and updates HACCP documentation
  • Creates and updates product specifications
  • Prepares certificates of analysis and certificates of compliance for customers
  • Responds to quality inquiries from Customer Service
  • Maintains organic and kosher certification documentation
  • Investigation and trending of manufacturing deviations and customer complaints
  • Conducts product out of specification investigations as required
  • Maintenance and organization of quality records
  • Maintain product stability program
  • Maintain environmental monitoring program
  • Occasional heavy lifting required (50 lbs)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
