Description:
SUMMARY
Trueleaf Petcare is a specialty Petcare company based in Vernon, BC distributing products across Canada. We are a owner operated business with a small team producing premium functional supplements for cats and dogs.
The company is developing its own manufacturing facility for liquids, balms and soft chew product formats requiring the implementation of a quality system. We are currently looking to hire a Quality Assurance Coordinator to join our team in Vernon, BC.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of and compliance to Trueleaf’s quality assurance, regulatory and food safety programs at our facility in Vernon BC. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will be responsible for performing daily quality assurance and quality control duties to assure food safety and product quality. The QA coordinator will ensure adherence to quality procedures, company’s policies and government regulations during the production process. The position reports to the COO.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop, implement, maintain, and reassess quality assurance programs required to operate a compliant manufacturing facility. Standards include GMP (dietary supplement), HACCP and other Food Safe programs.
- Conduct quality gap assessments and develop procedures and/or protocols to bridge them.
- Ensure staff receive and maintain training standards required by regulations
- Work with the plant employees and product development teams on new product launches to ensure new products meet specifications.
- Routine employee training on quality, regulatory and food safety procedures, and policies.
- Contribute to the implementation of Manufacturing Management Systems, ensuring quality aspects are observed.
- Ensure raw materials, manufacturing processes, plant environment and finished products meet established formulations and specifications.
- Ensure all new regulatory requirements are implemented and work with the appropriate operations staff to implement the necessary changes or corrective actions.
- Implementation and maintenance of regular sanitation and quality assurance audits.
- Lead contact for food safety Team, outside pest control, and sanitation chemical supplier(s).
- Assist in follow up corrective actions and preventative measures from audit findings. Recommend and implement approved improvements to production processes, etc., that increase food safety or compliance with regulatory requirements
- Coordinate, training operators with good communication skills to successfully implement, and execute all programs and procedures. Conduct validation studies as needed.
- Promote a positive and professional relationship with Management and co-workers
- Oversee the inspection of in process and finished products for compliance to specifications and the completion of the required documents
- Work closely with sales and plant operations in the areas of quality program management, inspections, and testing requirements
- Address customer complaints by conducting product inspections and evaluations. Tracking outcomes and ensuring processes and protocols are amended as required to ensure quality manufacturing.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge in general quality and food safety principles.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP and other Food Safety Programs.
- Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20,000.00-$36,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 per week
