JOB TITLE: QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA) TECHNICIAN

Salary: Starting £27K DOE
Location: Chew Magna, Bristol BS39
Days & Hours: 4-day week across Monday to Thursday - 06:15 to 17:15
Job Type: Full time, Permanent - 4 day week!

Company: Our client is a family owned, highly respected, well-established, and friendly FMCG dried food packaging business who specialises in the manufacture of single serve ingredients. They are fully committed to reducing food and packaging waste. They have a unique product offering and work in the fastest growing sector of the food industry. Due to company restructure we are looking to recruit a new member of staff for the Quality & Technical department.
Job Purpose: Reporting to and working closely with the Technical & Quality Manager, your role would be to assist in maintaining a programme of quality assurance activity by ensuring that products manufactured are safe, legal, and meet or exceed customer expectations as and when directed.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control - Support and work with production to ensure that all checks are trained out and understood, being carried out as required, product quality is as expected and that all elements of the product and packaging are present and correct, as well as relevant quality checks on raw materials and finished goods.
  • Support and educate quality standards at each point in production with all production staff. Assist and monitor the quality checks being carried out.
  • Oversee spotlight quality issues, raise awareness and implementing corrective actions.
  • Quality Attribute Sheets create and maintain these standards.
  • Train and brief all aspects of the QAS, including changes and key focus points.
  • Investigations and Root Cause Analysis - undertake as and when directed regarding quality issues.
  • Carry out GMP Audits as to the schedule and report findings promptly and follow up to ensure issues have been resolved and closed out adequately. Record all audits, actions and points scored and communicate the monthly trends to the relevant staff.
  • Carry out daily scale checks and any other daily or weekly monitoring, e.g. temperatures of refrigerators etc. Ensure that all checks are carried out at the appropriate time. Ensure that any ‘reading’s out of range’ have appropriate actions taken straight away.
  • Raise NCRS as appropriate either for materials or processes and procedures. Ensure that any NCRs raised are properly investigated, that the root cause is identified, where possible, and that the NCR is closed out in a timely fashion.
  • Allergen Monitoring of Plant & Equipment as and when required assist on carrying out allergen swabbing, coupled with visual assessment, of plant and equipment. Test swab and then report the results.
  • Training- Train out new procedures, work instructions etc as required.
