POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to QA Supervisor, you will be responsible for monitoring and verifying food safety and quality assurance manufacturing and processing activities to ensure that our products are made in compliance with Riverside standards and customer specifications and to meet and exceed food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
- Demonstrate and uphold Riverside Natural Food’s core values
- Assist in implementing Riverside and BRC Food Safety standards in manufacturing
- Provide clear and effective training to Senior Operators for conducting Critical to Quality and CCP checks and other Operators on performing analytical testing such as moisture checks, temper checks, etc.
- Support Riverside in establishing and maintaining food safety culture among employees by carrying out monthly food safety talks and assessments
- Conduct routine pre-operational inspection duties to assure compliance to sanitation standards
- Verify procedures and records such as CCP, critical limits as per schedule monitoring and deviation procedures or steps to be taken in the event of non-conformance
- Perform scheduled GMP and non-conformance audits to monitor manufacturing practices
- Communicate test results and provide recommendations for operations personnel to ensure finished products are within specifications
- Ensure complete and accurate records of all testing and evaluations are maintained and verified for compliance to specifications
- Sample and perform sensory evaluation of incoming ingredients and finished products
- Verify packaging artwork to ensure they meet company specifications; conduct qualitative and quantitative testing of finished goods
- Perform scheduled glass inspections, environmental and sanitation swabbing
- Perform verification of COA, sampling and receiving of raw material in SAP
- Support root cause analysis on external complaints and internal non-conformances
- Maintain highest possible housekeeping standards to prevent microbial contamination
- Maintain all related records, ensure verification as required
- Support/participate in completing document and process reviews and audits
- Keeps the work atmosphere FUN by keeping it light and welcoming
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1-2 years of working experience in a food safety or quality assurance role in the food industry preferably
- Minimum Post Secondary education in Food Science and Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
- Familiar with GFSI schemes (BRC), GMP, and HACCP
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, self-starter with a high level of initiative and ADAPTABILITY
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to convey complex information to a non-expert audience
- TEAM player with a positive attitude
- Good computer skills with intermediate level Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
- PASSIONATE and positive attitude with a desire to learn and collaborate;
- Aptitude to exhibit, RESPECT and protect Riverside’s Core Values in a changing environment
- Demonstrates HUMILITY throughout the company on a day to day basis
- Able to work on rotational shifts (day, afternoon, and night) and weekends as needed
- Flexibility working at different Riverside sites as needed
