Responsibilities:
- Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as microscopy, spectrometry, and physical and chemical separation techniques
- Compile records and interpret experimental or analytical results
- Conduct daily quality control testing for the chemical and microbiological testing of final products and raw materials; analyze the results and prepare reports
- Collect, receive, label, and analyze samples or substances for testing
- Design and execute laboratory testing in line with standard testing procedures, recording observation and interpreting findings
- Assist in developing and conducting programs of sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw materials, chemical intermediates, and final products
- Record all experimental data and results accurately in the specified format (written and/or electronic)
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, while preparing solutions, reagents and chemical formulations for chemical experiments
- Responsible for environmental monitoring of the Canmore Workshop site which includes the testing of air and water quality, as well as the development of and compliance with standards
- Assist with the organization and storage of chemical substances, including fluids and compressed gasses, to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements
- Maintain sample library as well as retain sample management
- Other duties as assigned
