By joining our Power Transmission and Distribution team as a Quality Control Engineer in our Operations Team based in Scotland, you’ll work with true experts who’ll share their knowledge and provide support, encouragement, and invaluable feedback so you never stop learning.

This role will be required to:

  • To support Balfour Beatty, deliver the project in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate compliance against Balfour Beatty requirements, external accreditations and industry good practice
  • To support the co-ordination, submission, compliance and management of all assurance activities and the resolution of assurance related issues. To ensure implementation of procedures including submissions from the supply chain and establishing test and inspection plans for delivery of the works.

What you’ll be doing

  • Review supply chain quality plans/inspection & test plans and ensure that customer/projectrequirements are being met.
  • Assist delivery teams in achieving the required deliverables, and managing supplied material issues as required, also providing Quality advice to our supply chain where appropriate.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Testing of project materials.
  • Support project team in collating and delivering handover records as per customer’ requirements, on time.
  • Support the undertaking of specific investigations and/or reporting on quality related issues as required.
  • Communicate supply chain performance with internal and external stakeholder Complete site based Quality Control checks ensuring compliance to Balfour Beatty & Client requirements

Who we’re looking for

The following qualities/experiences are essential:

  • Demonstratable knowledge of substation primary plant equipment (from 11,000v up to 400,000v)
  • A good understanding of UK Transmission/Distribution National standards/legislation as well as IEC standards
  • Understanding of industry quality documentation
  • UK Driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel (sometimes internationally)
  • The following qualities/experience are desirable:
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor trained.
  • Experience in attending, or carrying out, Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Previous operational substation experience
