Description:
CIF Construction is a premium heavy civil contractor specializing in concrete and earthworks, delivering high quality projects for a range of industries including mining, oil & gas, forestry, and energy. We are looking for a Quality Control Specialist interested in working on remote job sites across Western Canada. This position often requires the incumbent to travel long distances, stay in camp & work a 14 on/14 off, 10-12 hour/day rotation.
Our on-site Quality Control Specialists spend the day playing a crucial role in our projects inspecting materials, monitoring construction processes, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
The Quality Control Specialist will:
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain project specific procedures and work instructions.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Perform or oversee material testing to ensure they meet required specifications.
- Identify, document, and report non-conforming work or materials.
- Initiate non-conformance reports when required.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and construction activities.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly quality control reports to the project manager.
- Track and resolve quality-related issues and maintain corrective action logs.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with project management, contractors, suppliers, engineers, and clients to resolve quality-related issues.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for quality control concerns and communicate findings effectively.
For this position you come equipped with:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a Red Seal trade certificate in carpentry or ironwork are preferred, Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent with a combination of experience will be considered
- Relevant certifications are an asset
- 3+ years in heavy construction or related field
- Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and best practices
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical documents
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, safety protocols, and a commitment to working safely
