Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a food processing plant.
  • Basic laboratory skills preferred, but training will be provided.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of HACCP/HARPC and GMP practices.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts, Monday through Friday from 1:00am to 9:00am, with flexibility for weekends and overtime as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Food Defense Training is preferred.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting within a food processing environment.
  • Familiarity with SQF Level II and GFCO standards.
  • Experience with quality line checks, including using Redzone software for data collection.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform internal audits effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and enforce the HACCP/HARPC plan and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials, in-process products, chemical concentrations, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform and document pre-operational inspections of processing areas and equipment.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in implementing policies and procedures to achieve SQF Level II certification.
  • Ensure compliance with GFCO standards for ingredient approvals.
  • Train new staff and existing employees on GMP, allergen management, and sanitation protocols, documenting training sessions and reporting issues to the Plant Manager.
  • Conduct quality line checks, including weight, label verification, and metal detector checks using Redzone software.
  • Perform sensory, chemical, and microbiological testing of raw materials and finished goods, including ATP and allergen testing.
  • Coordinate with outside laboratories for environmental microbiological testing.
  • Assist in research and development projects, including new formulations, plant trials, and testing of analytical equipment.
  • Perform internal audits on GMPs, safety, sanitation, food defense, and quality systems, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
