JOB SUMMARY
“The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring adherence to quality standards and driving continuous improvement initiatives within Adventec’s operations. The position supports production, customer quality, supplier quality assurance, and program management to achieve operational excellence and zero defects.”
Essential Duties & Key Deliverables:
o Ensure and facilitate companywide adherence to the Adventec’s Quality Management System, IATF 16949 and Customer Specific Requirements.
o Carry out regular system and process audits to ensure compliance with customer requirements and IATF16949, analyze results, identify shortcomings and implement improvements.
o Lead the 8D’s process with support of cross functional teams to eliminate the systemic causes.
o Develop / lead / support CIP initiatives focused on improving our quality system, products and services.
o Compile and graph Key Operating Indices relating to quality and customer satisfaction, facilitate the development of action plans to drive measureable improvement.
o Oversee measurement systems and gauge calibration.
o Facilitate / lead a cross functional team approach to APQP process.
o Ensure PPAP submissions are complete and provide necessary statistical analysis to demonstrate process capability.
o Work with program managers and customers to ensure any outstanding issues are resolved in support of a successful program launch.
o Develop control plans, gauging strategies, inspection instructions, and related supporting documentation.
o Provide necessary support to the production team to facilitate the achievement of continuous progress towards zero defects.
o Participate / lead resolution of quality related plant floor issues in a “hands on” manner, ensuring timely and permanent resolutions to any and all issues that present.
o Implement training and control charting throughout operations to prioritize and drive CIP efforts.
o Undertake training of production personnel and technicians in quality related areas including work instructions, SPC, gauging, 5s, lean manufacturing etc.
o Lead effective 8D problem resolution process supporting timely turn around / containment of quality issues and ensuring corrective actions are effective, permanent and irreversible in nature.
o Conduct supplier quality audits.
o Participate / lead problem resolution processes to assist in the permanent elimination of problem areas with suppliers.
REQUIREMENTS:
o Experience with cellular manufacturing and Cross Functional work teams is an asset.
o Project management experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
o Mechanical drawing experience and CAD experience preferred.
o Able to read drawing, GD&T and conceptualize datum and gaging structure.
o Knowledge of ergonomics, and experience with APQP Processes and Design FMEA’s, MSA, SPC, PPAP.
o A history of “hands-on” approach to problem solving and countermeasure implementation.
o Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
o Experience as a Quality or Process or Manufacturing Engineer in the automotive manufacturing industry is considered an asset.
