GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating inspection and testing materials, measurement equipment setup and support, implementing improvement processes and validating products to ensure compliance to documented requirements. Duties also include completing First Article Inspection reports that meet customer requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be skilled in problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Practical experience interfacing with manufacturing processes and people
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings
  • Familiar with equipment needed for measurement accuracy and calibration.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001:2015; AS9100 Rev D is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of troubleshooting and investigating problems.
  • Understand GD& T methodology is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of testing and calibration tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent PC skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment and commit to continuous improvement

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree
  • Mechanical/Industrial engineer, or equivalent, is a plus
  • 1 - 5 years’ experience in Quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering or product engineering. New College Grads should apply.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage First Article Inspections to ensure products and services meet customer and AFSI internal requirements.
  • Design and develop measurement tooling and fixtures
  • Develop and implement Manufacturing Control Plans based on DFMEA and PFMEA
  • Facilitate cross-functional process improvement teams
  • Coordinate failure analysis; ensure true root cause identification and appropriate corrective actions are implemented to solve problems
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance practices, methods, tools, and manufacturing processes.
  • Interface with customers and government representatives concerning corrective and preventative actions
  • Perform quality checks and create preventative measures that mitigate defects and achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with all departments to develop and implement controls and improvements within the Quality Management System.
  • Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the products
  • Work with a range of metrology equipment to ensure accuracy to standards
