ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Excellent analysis of data and reporting, including graphical and statistical methods
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in conducting thorough root cause analyses and formulating effective preventive action plans.
- Proficient in utilizing problem-solving tools such as 8D, CAPA, 5Why.
- Embraces a continuous improvement mindset, focusing on driving process enhancements and preventing future non-conformances.
- Strong leader, secure in their abilities that will coach, train, and mentor managers in their understanding and implementation of the Quality Management System
- Precision in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Capability to work independently or collaboratively in teams with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in conducting thorough root cause analyses and formulating effective preventive action plans.

Responsibilities:
This is a full-time position, reporting to the Head of Quality. As a Quality Engineer at Ames, you will lead quality-related improvements through quality improvement initiatives and the non-conformance system. Your responsibilities will include identifying root causes of quality issues, working collaboratively with the production team to implement corrective actions to eliminate recurrence, manage all quarantined stock making decisions on rework and disposal, and establish an effective audit program within the manufacturing facility for all products to ensure conformance. Your expertise will contribute to the ongoing success and continuous improvement of our manufacturing facility.
A typical day in your role will involve:
- Develop and collate quality metrics and produce quality plans for existing products and processes.
- Analyse data and trends in performance/variation of the product, process, non-conformance reports and corrective and preventative actions using appropriate analysis methods.
- Lead/facilitate quality improvement, and continuous improvement projects in partnership with Manufacturing and Product teams.
- Facilitate risk management activities including aiding and maintaining incoming new products by completing initial product assessments.
- Write and review technical documents, including standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Ensure integrity of process quality and source inspections.
- Provide coaching and guidance on quality topics to the Production and Engineering teams.
- Member of internal audit team - conducting process, product, and workplace audits
- Rigorous implementation of recording, reporting, and managing non-conforming products.
- Rapidly identify the root causes of quality issues and work closely with the production team to implement necessary behavioural, process, and procedural changes to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that lessons learned from quality issues are acted upon to prevent future occurrences, including modifying processing routes and operating procedures.
- Lead auditing of corrective actions to verify the effectiveness of updated process control documents and ensure that localized training is in place and effective.
- Quarantining non-conforming products in accordance with company procedures.
