Description:

Location: Multimatic C-Mech, Newmarket, Ontario, Canada
Multimatic C-Mech is seeking a Quality Engineer to support manufacturing and maintain quality to the Company’s vision to Strive for Zero defects. This position will report to the Quality Manager and be responsible for implementing, communicating and auditing systems as well as working with Suppliers to contain quality issues and improve overall supplier quality through Supplier Development Activities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Attend drawing review meetings to scrutinize the accuracy, specifications and feasibility of meeting the customer’s requirements by participating as an active member in AQP.
  • Support ongoing program review meetings participate, ensuring the feasibility of meeting customer’s requirements.
  • Attend ECN Meetings and update the appropriate documentation, visual aids etc. to meet the ECN PPAP date.
  • Review CMM reports for dimensional, MSA and Initial SPC studies for their new programs in preparation for Customer PPAP and annual validations, provide action plans as required and follow up accordingly.
  • Participate in gauge design and approvals. Design, timing, GR&R’s and quality to meet Customer requirements.
  • Coordinate any unique studies as required for assigned programs as a result of Customer Complaints, Internal issues working with various Multimatic departments to achieve and maintain the highest Customer rating: To Achieve Zero Defects.
  • Champion of supplier issues identified at multimatic. In charge to coordinate containment activities from containing the problem at Multimatic to keeping the lines running and preventing the issue from escaping to the Customer location.
  • Contacts and follows up with suppliers to implement and verify corrective actions at Multimatic and supplier locations.
  • Collects all data pertaining to quality issues on Multimatic DMN’s, including costs and all actions. Finalizes DMN costs and corrective actions, presents the same to quality manager or designate for closure.
  • Supplier Audits, Reporting and follows up with corrective action where identified.
  • Prepares monthly Supplier Performance Reporting and exports to the Web.
  • Authority to Communicate with customers and Suppliers.
  • Attend Milestone Review Meetings.
  • Support the activities and subsequent documentation for Customer PPAP submissions.
  • Ensure all products purchased and manufactured are at correct engineering levels and meet Customer Requirements.
  • Review and manage Supplier PPAP submissions and authority to approve as per PPAP/Customer requirements.
  • Coordinate the development and issuance of all levels of Control Plans for Production obtain Customer approvals.
  • Support as part of a cross-functional team the development and issuance of DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s and work instructions.
  • Lead root cause investigation and resolution for ongoing production related quality concerns both internal and external. Ensure team participation engaging suppliers as necessary.
  • Generate Customer Specific reports and update Customers on status of quality issues and support if and when required.
  • Coordinates and Participate in DMN process activities for non-conformances and follow up.
  • Preform Layered Audits and address non conformances.
  • Authority to disposition and track non-conforming product. Champion CFT to ensure process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Support Customer warranty reviews in accordance with company procedures to exceed customer expectations.
  • Participate for new programs training sessions with the operators.
  • Support any product testing including assisting in the development of Poke Yokes.
  • Prepare and maintain the Visual Standards in the plant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Possess a University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent and or previous relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with customers, suppliers and various departments.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficient in computer software, Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and GD&T with a complete understanding of SPC, PPAP process and problem solving methodology.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 / IATF16949 Quality standards would be an asset.
  • Flexibility to travel.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • PCDMIS CMM software.
  • Experience with ZEISS Inspect , PolyWorks MS or PCDMIS CMM software is an asset.
