Description:

Performs a range of qualified and comprehensive quality tasks to ensure that agreed quality standards (for products, services, solutions or projects) comply with all agreed requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting incoming goods using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions and examining functionality
  • Reviewing manufacturing drawings and specifications to compare to produced goods
  • Using gauges such as callipers and micrometres to measure products
  • Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with legal requirements
  • Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality tools
  • Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training
  • Keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs
  • Proceeds with qualified, routine and non-routine quality tasks
  • Applies equipment, tools, methods, agile procedures and software applications.
  • Through his/her responsible actions, influences a high quality culture and is the first point of contact for questions about quality in their working environment.
  • Assist all other departments with quality related issues and requests
  • Actively promotes continuous improvement using Speak up and Deliver.
  • Acts according to guidelines and initiates appropriate measures in case of deviations from the agreed quality standard.
  • Assisting in the development of test methods and inspection plans
  • Verifying all equipment is calibrated correctly
  • Assisting with quality assurance tasks on an ad hoc basis as and when required

Qualifications and experience

  • Diploma in quality management or equivalent/ Relevant experience in quality control
  • 3-4 years in quality control or quality assurance position
  • Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to translate skills and knowledge to others
  • Familiarity with tools such as but not limited to verniers, micrometre, depth gauge, slip gauge, dial gauges, and technologies that quality control inspectors use
  • Quality assurance knowledge would be preferable but not a requirement.
