CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Post-secondary education with a focus on electrical engineering, Certified Engineering Technician designation (CTECH).
  • Knowledge of OHSA, EUSR rules and other related safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Measurement Canada Act and Regulations, OEB regulations, ESA regulatory legislation, and other codes, rules and regulations related to electricity metering.
  • Strong knowledge of Measurement Canada’s Accreditation Standard S-A-01.
  • Working knowledge of the ISO Quality Assurance Standards.
  • Knowledge of electricity and its methods of measurement.
  • Knowledge of IESO Market Rules related to metering.
  • Strong understanding of statistical techniques for meter verification.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years electricity metering experience with a focus on metrology, functionality, programing and inspections.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a Quality Assurance Environment.

Responsibilities:

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Quality Inspector, Metering Services, performs meter certification and sealing work as outlined by Measurement Canada and Alectra Utilities Corporation’s Quality Assurance requirements. Responsible for day-to-day processing of meter product, maintenance of measuring apparatus, the completion of meter inspection certifications and quality assurance documentation, and is an active participant in Measurement Canada and ISO9001 quality assurance audits. Ensures Alectra Utilities metering assets remain compliant to applicable regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute approved Meter Reverification and Seal Extension Programs.
  • Assist preparation of Accredited Meter Verifier product development plans.
  • Assist metering and related initiatives, research and implement policies, procedures and processes, and changes, to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain and certify sophisticated measuring apparatus and test equipment.
  • Perform and develop meter programming, calibration, verification, statistical sampling, and troubleshooting.
  • Calibrate and verify the accuracy of meter product.
  • As requested by Measurement Canada participate and perform product audits.
  • Complete and maintain documents as they pertain to the Quality Management System and Measurement Canada requirements.
  • Coordinate supply of meter product to various working groups.
  • Liaise with Measurement Canada regarding meter product, test equipment, accuracy tolerances, and associated documentation.
  • Responsible to provide input for process improvement, safety and work procedure development, training and implementation and product and Quality Assurance audits.
  • Maintenance of existing metering and troubleshooting system problems and recommending corrective action.
  • Process metering work orders issued by other departments.
  • Research & development on new meter types and associated software.
  • Responsible for a working knowledge and understanding of and make all efforts reasonable to work in accordance with and ensuring work is done in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation, EUSR rules, Alectra policies and procedures and safe work practices that apply to the work while adhering to the internal responsibility system. Reports any unsafe conditions or observed unsafe work practices using Alectra procedures.
  • The incumbent may be asked to perform other related duties which may be assigned from time to time.
