Description:
Working with the brewing team, the QC Lab Technician is responsible for monitoring and facilitating sample testing and quality assurance within the lab. Reporting to the Manager, the QC Technician is a key position on the brewing team who must be a self-starter with great energy and true passion for our beer and culture.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the quality of brewing and cellaring materials as well as other raw materials.
- Operate various laboratory equipment, monitor equipment and test through use of control samples. Take measurements and conduct standardized tests on beer/wort to ensure compliance with Muskoka Brewery quality standards; factors such as gravity and pH.
- Maintain quality control records of production throughout various processes.
- Lead in internally daily sensory process, document results and elevate inconsistency to profile standards to applicable managers.
- Clean and maintain equipment and utensils to make sure quality standards are met.
- Document test results and communicate with management and co-associates of deviations.
- Contribute and direct follow-up of product testing, deviations, and trends.
- Assist production associates with line & product monitoring as required.
- Perform QC tasks including product sampling, line monitoring, sampling, and performance lab testing. Safely, efficiently, and effectively work to attain department and brewery goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post Secondary graduate in food & beverage science, biology, chemistry, or related field of study.
- Undoubtable passion for laboratory operations and learning the industry and our standards.
- Strong communicator and energized through team collaboration and supportive of team members development.
- Co-operative experience using a variety of laboratory equipment and use of chemicals for testing purposes.
- Able to operate testing equipment with basic data analysis skills.
- Competent in safe operation practices and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
- This role is a Monday to Friday position with standard hours, some hours may fluctuate based on the production needs.
