QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or related field
  • Safety certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Manager (CSM)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ safety leadership experience in production manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to work independently, managing tasks and priorities efficiently without constant supervision.
  • Experience with establishing safety metrics and creating safety reports.
  • In-depth understanding of OSHA, EPA and local environmental standards.
  • Competent with MS Office suite and Statistical software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, record-keeping and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships and trust at all levels of the organization

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to travel 50% of the time to support facilities for audits, training, etc.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance and direction in Safety and Environmental compliance to the plant operations, plant leadership, and executive leadership to ensure a common and effective approach.
  • Establish Safety performance goals and strategies and effectively communicate Safety metrics across the organization. Assess trends, take appropriate actions.
  • Coach, train, guide, and mentor the organization to achieve a zero-incident culture
  • Coordinates OSHA and Environmental Reporting across the organization.
  • Conduct and assist on incident investigations to ensure the investigation is properly documented, investigated to identify Contributing/Root Causes, and Corrective Actions are implemented and sustained
  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Partner with plant leadership identify opportunities to improve workplace safety and to implement safety initiatives
  • Program administrator for respiratory protection, hazard communication, hearing conservation, ergonomics, and heat stress prevention.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant training including the new-hire safety orientation program.
  • Assists with the specification and purchase of safety equipment and systems.
  • Maintain membership in applicable safety or environmental associations to stay informed of new developments and trends.
  • Complete and maintain all documentation of safety incidents. Monitor medical treatment.
  • Prepare legal notices, postings, and reports as required by government and regulatory bodies.
  • Enforce compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety related regulations
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
