Description:

- 30 hr per week, with work required over the span of a 7 day week

Are you looking for an opportunity to provide hands-on coaching and mentoring support to support staff?
Responsibilities:
Your tasks will include
- Coaching staff (with a focus on new staff) in the HomePlace Way of providing support which includes support which is:
- “Participant- first” focussed
- Is provided with kindness, a genuine sense of caring and dedication to enabling participants to lead a life that they feel is right for them
- Reflects our values of Respect|Trust|Safety|Partnership and building great relationships with participants, supporting them to connect to and belong in their communities
- Shows a strong commitment to continuous improvement – support that is always striving to take the standard of support ‘to the next level’, and
- Aims to create or strengthen roles that people with disability can undertake and contribute to our society.
- Provide approximately 15 hours per week of direct support yourself.
- Monitoring that 3 months check-ins are calendarized for each staff member by their supervisor, and documentation of the check-ins is evident in each staff member’s employee record’s file notes
- Develop and encourage positive team relationships and open communication across all support staff, supervisors, the Executive Manager and Manager of Participant Services and Quality, HR & Admin Partner, the Senior Quality Support Coach and the people HomePlace supports.
- Comply with the HomePlace Code of Conduct
- Enter into an annual performance and development process
- Actively participate in communication and information sharing with colleagues and management to facilitate effective HomePlace operations.
- Consult collaboratively and respectfully with participants and/or their families or representatives at all times
To be successful in this role, you will have/be:
- Experience in supporting, coaching and training support staff.
- Proven experience providing supported independent living and community participation supports for people living with intellectual disability or cognitive impairment
- Confident with Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of WHS practices as they relate to the disability sector.
- Managing aggressive, abusive, or unusually persistent behaviour.
- Ability to maintain a high standard of personal conduct.
- A strong commitment to the practical application of social justice principles.
- Ability to enthuse others and be a good team player
- Excellent demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Exceptional organisational and time management abilities, including prioritising tasks effectively and meet deadlines consistently
- Ability to work autonomously while happily able to work within a team
