Description:

NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

The Quality System Internal Auditor & Metrology Coordinator will require knowledge of Quality Management Systems in accordance with IATF 16949 requirements and other relevant standards (ISO9001 and Calibration standards). This requires the individual to have highly effective communications capabilities, time management skills and the ability to develop and nurture effective relationships with a diverse and growing manufacturing team. The role will be within a fast-paced, team-oriented, international business. You will leverage your skills in auditing, metrology and data management to ensure sustainable measurement and quality systems are embedded into a brand-new manufacturing facility. QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR THIS POSITION WILL HAVE:

  • Good organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Drive to achieve and adhere to business-critical deadlines.
  • A dedicated and ethical approach to NSE standards.
  • Excellent data analytic skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and demonstrated ability to learn new software systems that are specific to the NSE organization.

  • Team focused attitude with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to develop relationships acting as a well-respected, trusted partner with whom others want to work with.
  • Analytical skills and ability to assimilate data in dashboard style compilation.
  • Experience in metrology programs and coordinating or executing a calibration program.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with related experience, Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Preference given to individuals with a Certified Internal Auditor Certified IATF 16949 or ISO9001.
  • Preference given to individuals with 2 years of Management System Auditing experience.
  • Preference given to individuals with experience in metrology, measurement system programs, calibration.
  • Experience working with diverse teams in a manufacturing environment for 1-2 years.
  • Core Tools experience (FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA).
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills: Greenbelt, Six Sigma preferred.
  • Experience with other aspects of Quality Management (customer quality, supplier quality and manufacturing).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of our Quality Management Systems in order to achieve IATF 16949 certification and maintain standards.
  • Act as an internal auditor per IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits in accordance with the audit program, including corrective action follow up and closure.
  • Work with a diverse team of engineers, auditors, and laboratory personnel to ensure the calibration and maintenance of quality equipment is continuously conforming to all required standards.
  • Perform detailed analyses of the processes assigned to you to and identify and understand the business objectives and related risks, being able to perform gap analysis to IATF, offering solutions to close the gaps with a strong focus on Measurement standards of the IATF and ISO requirements.
  • Monitoring the KPI’s of the organization in regard to measurement performance, with a dashboard creation and report out mindset: Collection and coordination of the data collection.
  • Coordinates with all levels of the organization in developing ISO 9001/IATF16949 compliant processes and documentation.
  • Manages and leads corrective action events pertaining to internal and external issues up to and including verification, implementation and closure.
  • Implement, monitor and schedule layer process audits.
  • Ability to conduct ‘shop floor’ audits with an average of 40% plant floor presence (PPE required). Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, with off-shift audits.
  • Make recommendations to improve documentation, processes and influence others to have a best quality mindset.
  • Ability to conduct problem solving via 8D, 5-why or other proven methodology.
  • Proven track record of:
