Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Process/Quality Technician for our Wheatland Tube facility located in Rochelle, IL. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the PQT will be responsible for the duties and responsibilities as outlined below:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • A strong team player is necessary with the ability to coordinate efforts of many individuals throughout the team
  • Sound decision-making ability, computational, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
  • Minimum of HS diploma required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to:

  • Bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push and pull. Able to reach in all directions.
  • Other physical requirements as needed for job.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties in accordance with company safety policies and reports unsafe conditions
  • Performs inspection and testing activities as directed in support of plant quality
  • Notifies operational personnel when product is out of tolerance and verifies quality after adjustment is made
  • Support operations as team member to define root cause and solve issues before they impact quality
  • Ensures that non-conforming products are identified, recorded, and properly tagged
  • Monitors the cleaning/environmental processes throughout the facility. This includes cleaning and calibrating pH instrumentation, performing titrations on process tanks, ensuring that the treatment processes are operating efficiently and ordering chemicals as needed
  • Monitor waste water treatment system for proper operation as needed
  • Records water flow meter and pH readings throughout the facility
  • Performs laboratory indicator testing of effluent waters and makes process adjustments accordingly
  • Perform inspections of specific processes throughout the plant
  • Perform work-station audits on shop floor to ensure quality procedures are implemented and effective
  • Train other employees when necessary
  • Support gauge calibration program through issuing and monitoring gauges utilized on the floor
  • Perform daily audits of gages being utilized throughout the facility
  • Coordinate special projects directed from Quality Manager
  • Participate in continuous improvement and yield projects as directed by Quality Manager
  • Assist with other projects and analyses as needed
