Description:
The Quality Technician will support operation and quality by providing information to internal and external customers by performing laboratory tests, analyzing data and documenting results. - Provide technical support expertise to internal and external customers
- Conduct physical testing on containerboard, corrugated board and corrugated containers. Analyze and select materials for packaging based on durability and cost effectiveness.
- Conduct tests such as: Board Combination, Compression, Edge Compression, Pin Adhesion, Ring Crush, and Cobb
- Analyze and report results of tests to assist internal and external customers with quality related issues.
- Coordinate trial processes for departments by creating plans and collecting samples, support Certificate Of Analysis process
- Operate general lab machinery operation such as: Vibration Table, Drop Tester, Incline Impact, Compression Tester, Emerson Apparatus, Sample Cutter, MBR Device, Dead Weight Micrometer
- Complete projects that support the company’s operational objectives.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment
- Set up and maintain customer accounts
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Support Design Department projects
- Support Quality Department responsibilities and initiatives
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Packaging Engineering program or Packaging Science preferred. Related work experience may be substituted for some, or all required education.
- Experience in the corrugated packaging and/or print industry preferred.
- Practical understanding of statistical analysis.
- Working knowledge of TAPPI, ASTM, ISTA procedures
- Capable of identifying problems and seeking appropriate resources for solution
- Fundamental knowledge of profit and loss factors
- Physical ability to safely handle test materials weighing 50 lbs. or more.
