The Quality Technologist (QT) plays an important role in the development and manufacturing of products by ensuring that those products meet required quality standards before they reach consumer. The QT is responsible for conducting inspection and testing procedures and internal audits throughout product development and/or test finished goods. During these processes, the QT records and analyzes results in order to decide whether to certify or reject specific products. This data may be used to solve production issues and recommend improvements.

Education/Experience

  • Technical diploma in QA/QC or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An ASQ or equivalent qualification is highly desired
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have experience using quality measurement tools, process, and Quality management system
  • Familiar with supplier process, product audits, process audits and inspections
  • Continuous Improvement - LEAN (yellow) an asset

Accountabilities

  • Able to prioritize product concerns by working with cross functional teams and work on timely resolutions.
  • Investigate concerns, perform root cause analysis, and implement resolution in accordance with the Quality management system.
  • Collect and analyze data trends to proactively control quality rate and assist in building a robust Quality management system.
  • Perform, document, and create measurement inspections reports on finished product. Communicate reports with cross functional teams to eliminate any non-conformances.
  • Support new product development team with quality audits, design review and work with suppliers to developed defect free products.
  • Follow process and standards as documented and update systems as a continuous improvement commitment.
  • Experienced in creating FMEA and developing Control Plans, training and in building a Zero-defect product using process controls.
  • Interpret inspection sheets, work instructions, engineering drawings or schematic diagrams and communicate with production, management, or engineering staff to define and update the applicable quality and reliability standards or documents.
  • Production support: Fast decision-making ability to resolve production issues and keep production on track.
  • Maintain the calibration system and perform designated calibrations per internal procedures.
  • Participate in the Material Review Board process for discrepant materials.
  • Complete other appropriate tasks required to maintain an effective Quality System.

Work Conditions

  • Time split between and office setting various areas of the manufacturing plant
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Employee may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments requiring protective equipment
  • Employee may be exposed to dust, odors, fumes and high levels of noise at times
  • Employee may be exposed to uncomfortable work setting’ may have long combinations of standing, crouching or sitting
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
