SKILLS:

Aware of the commercial activities undertaken during the pre-contract process and the principles of cost planning, what the components are that make up the cost of the project.

  • Aware of the need for effective cash management
  • Aware of the concept of budget and cost reconciliation and forecasting (CVR).
  • Aware of the requirement to maintain processes to monitor direct works costs.
  • Aware of and able to undertake Interim Valuation of simple Sub-Contract packages and assist in preparation of external application.
  • Aware of and able to undertake Interim Valuation of simple Sub-Contract packages and assist in preparation of external application.
  • Aware of primary risks that can affect a project. Aware of the principles of risk management and procurement routes that can deal with risk.
  • Builds relationships on the basis of trust and seeks to avoid conflict situations.
  • Aware of the purpose and nature of bonds, guarantees, warranties and insurances.
  • Aware of various forms of main and sub-contract procurement, and their inter-relationship.
  • Aware of the implications of design responsibility

EDUCATION:

Required Qualifications/Training:

  • Educated to degree level and working toward the relevant professional accreditation.
  • Letter & report writing
  • Negotiation
  • CVRs
  • Contract/commercial appreciation

Desirable Qualifications/Training

  • Desire to achieve Chartered status.

Responsibilities:

Support the Operations and Commercial functions, assisting with & taking responsibility for:

  • Preparing tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate s/c’s, negotiation & finalise s/c orders, financial & commercial management of s/c’s to Final Account completion.
  • Site records & document control including supply chain contracts.
  • Site measurement records
  • Assisting in the preparation of forecasts, targets & CV reconciliations
  • Valuations
  • Prepare variations with adequate records & details, agree as works progress.
  • Update projected Final Account, prepare & submit in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with & commercially influence/challenge site management team.
  • Maintain & protect Entegro commercial & contractual entitlement.
  • CVR – Be actively involved in & understand the process, maintain independent view.
  • Risk/opportunity – Review & consider.
  • Insurances/warranties – Develop understanding and track.
  • Cash management – Be aware & be actively involved to ensure good cash management.
  • Tender – Support as required.
  • Manage & oversee junior staff, checking & taking responsibility for their work.
