About the role
Our Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering business has a terrific opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team working on the HS2, N1/N2 project. This role will be based in Coleshill, Birmingham
The HS2, N1/N2 project is a significant part of the HS2 scheme, covering the northern 90km section of Phase 1. This project aims to establish a new high-speed rail connection between London and the North of England.

What you’ll be doing

Some key responsibilities will be:

  • Measure, record, and value work independently following established rules and procedures
  • Measure and interpret specifications and drawings accurately.
  • Build up estimates from first principle, including net and gross estimates.
  • Translate measurements from drawings and specifications to prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates.
  • Review weekly, monthly, and section programmes of works to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Plan commercial activities to meet the requirements of section programmes.
  • Collate cost and value information regularly to ensure accurate financial tracking
  • Collect information required to specify procurement requirements.
  • Engage in effective customer and stakeholder management to ensure satisfaction and project alignment.

Who we’re looking for

You will have the following:

  • An understanding of delay and disruption programmes, crucial for managing project timelines and mitigating delays.
  • Previous Commercial Work experience
  • Actively work towards membership in professional bodies such as RICS, ICES, or CIOB.
  • Hold a BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or possess relevant experience
