JOIN BALFOUR BEATTY GROUND ENGINEERING AS A QUANTITY SURVEYOR ON THE HS2 N1/N2 PROJECT
Our Ground Engineering team at Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to be part of the HS2, N1/N2 project, based in Coleshill, Birmingham. This pivotal role involves working on the northern 90km section of Phase 1 of the HS2 project, contributing to the new high-speed rail link connecting London and the North of England.

What you’ll be doing
Some Key Responsibilities:
- Independently measure, record, and value work, adhering to established rules and standards.
- Interpret specifications and drawings to ensure accuracy.
- Develop estimates from first principles, preparing net and gross estimates.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates from measurements.
- Review weekly, monthly, and sectional work schedules to ensure project alignment.
- Plan commercial activities in line with project schedules.
- Regularly track costs and values for accurate financial oversight.
- Gather procurement information as required.
- Maintain effective communication with customers and stakeholders for successful project outcomes.
Who we’re looking for
What we are looking for:
- Degree in a construction-related field.
- Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction.
- Proven ability to mentor and support junior QS team members.
- Valid CSCS card and full UK driving license.
