Description:

Our company is looking for Quantity Surveyor for our office located in Ras Al Khor, Dubai.
Job Description and responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation and Tendering
  • Pre-contract stage: Prepare detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) based on project plans, designs, and specifications.
  • Tender evaluation: Review tenders and bids submitted by contractors or subcontractors to ensure they meet the financial requirements and are cost-effective.
  • Cost feasibility studies: Analyze project viability by assessing projected costs vs. potential returns.
  1. Budget Management
  • Cost planning and control: Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring that the project remains within the set financial limits.
  • Forecasting and cash flow analysis: Anticipate future financial needs and ensure adequate cash flow for project phases.
  • Expenditure tracking: Maintain records of project costs and track spending to identify cost overruns or savings.
  1. Contract Administration
  • Contract drafting and negotiation: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients, ensuring legal compliance and clarity of terms.
  • Change orders and variations: Assess and manage contract variations or changes in project scope, ensuring that all amendments are properly accounted for and financially covered.
  • Dispute resolution: Handle any financial disputes or contractual issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  1. Valuation of Work
  • Interim valuations: Perform periodic valuations of work completed, ensuring payment certificates are issued accurately for client approval.
  • Final accounts: Prepare and agree on the final account, reconciling all costs incurred during the project for submission to the client.
  1. Procurement
  • Supplier/subcontractor management: Coordinate the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontracted services, ensuring they are within the budget and meet project specifications.
  • Tender preparation and evaluation: Oversee the preparation and analysis of tenders for the selection of subcontractors or suppliers.
  • Value engineering: Propose cost-saving measures without compromising the quality or functionality of the project.
  1. Risk and Cost Control
  • Risk management: Identify potential risks (e.g., cost inflation, material shortages) and devise strategies to mitigate them.
  • Cost audits: Regularly audit project costs to identify any inefficiencies or discrepancies, ensuring transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  1. Project Coordination and Reporting
  • Liaison with project teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure that financial considerations align with project timelines and objectives.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular cost reports, financial forecasts, and budget summaries for both internal management and the client.
  1. Regulatory and Compliance Issues
  • Compliance with standards: Ensure all financial aspects of the project comply with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations, including adherence to industry standards.
  • Health and safety considerations: Incorporate health, safety, and environmental regulations into the budgeting process to avoid legal liabilities.
  1. Post-Project Evaluation
  • Lessons learned: Participate in post-project reviews to assess the financial performance of the project and identify areas for improvement in future projects.

In road construction, the QS must also understand the specific challenges of working with infrastructure projects, such as fluctuating material costs, labor availability, and the importance of timely project delivery.
Company will provide company visa, insurance, accommodation and transportation.
Salary should be discussed during interview.
