The Administration Team in the Office of VP Research invites applications for a Quantum Accelerator Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 24 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Quantum City, a collaborative initiative between the University of Calgary, industry, and government partners, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Acceleration Coordinator to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage a diverse range of events that support the mission of Quantum City in advancing quantum technologies and innovation.
Reporting to the Manager, Quantum Accelerator, the Acceleration Coordinator will play a crucial role in planning and executing the QAI Ventures Accelerator program and events that engage quantum technology start-ups. The successful candidate will work closely with the QAI Ventures Canada Accelerator Team at Quantum City, the Quantum City Team, and other partners to ensure that the program and events are aligned with strategic goals and are executed to the highest standards. The successful candidate will also play an integral role in building the quantum ecosystem by representing QAI Ventures at events, building relationships with industry and sponsors, and helping to build the QAI Ventures brand.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Develop comprehensive project management timelines and standard operating procedures for each event.
- Utilize project management tools to track tasks and ensure deadlines are met.
- Build relationships with industry for collaborations and sponsorship.
- Represent QAI-Ventures Canada at events.
- Establish partnerships with local and international organizations.
- Coordinate all event logistics, including catering, audiovisual equipment, technical requirements, and venue setup.
- Manage relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure the highest quality of service delivery.
- Oversee volunteer coordination for QAI Ventures events at Quantum City, including the recruitment, training and debriefing for volunteer roles.
- Work closely with the communications team to develop and distribute event invitations, promotional materials, and registration forms.
- Work with QAI-Ventures team for business development and promotional activities.
- Must adhere to the University of Calgary and Quantum City’s brand guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in a relevant area such as communications, program management, program development, marketing, or event management.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in program coordination, and/or business development.
- Experience in leading events ranging from small workshops, bootcamps, or venture accelerators programs.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Relationship builder, experience establishing partnerships to support programming.
- Creative problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with catering, audiovisual setups, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Ability to work independently.
