Heidelberg Materials is looking for a Quarry Supervisor for our Cadomin operations. Reporting to the Quarry Manager, this position is responsible for executing quarry and infrastructure plans, tracking all production operations day by day, coordinating maintenance operations of the stationary and mobile heavy equipment and coordinating the train loadout operations to ship limestone by train to the plant located over 300 km from the quarry, while focusing on cost efficiencies, quality standards, safety, and regulatory compliance. The quarry is currently in the process of transitioning to an underground operation.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- A Supervisor with previous experience in quarry operations within a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety, environmental and mining regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all workplace policies, procedures, best practices and Occupational Health and safety Code.
- Lead and verify the proper completion of work assignments and investigate incidents and near misses with a view toward positive action through mentoring, training or equipment setup health and safety (OH&S) code.
- Supervise daily work performed by up to 12 multi-skilled workforce, and contractors during the plant shutdown, providing support as required for production operations and maintenance.
- Supervise maintenance performed by Heavy Duty mechanics on stationary and mobile equipment to maintain equipment availability.
- Follow daily work priorities to execute plans to meet limestone production and quality targets.
- Coordinate limestone blending operations with loading and hauling to maintain limestone quality within the required specifications for cement production.
- Schedule with Quarry Manager rail transport, both inbound and outbound.
- Track daily operations to maintain quarry KPIs updated related to material movement (Loading and hauling), drilling, blasting, crushing and train loadout.
- Coordinate employees training activities for the quarry different positions and operation of heavy equipment.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Good people management skills.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING:
- At least three to Five years of heavy equipment operation and a Supervisor/Leadership role
- Be a qualified Underground Mine Foreman in Alberta
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required
- Mining Technician, Trades, preferred
- Trained in underground mine rescue and emergency
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) an asset.
- Experience with SAP and Kronos an asset
- Experience with quarry surveying and asset
- Experience with drilling using GPS system an asset
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
Responsibilities:
- Assist and coordinate employees’ activities on mine site
- Administer the collective agreement and company policies and procedures
- Promote safe work habits and provide safe working conditions
- Assist in quarry planning and quarry management
- Assist in delivering limestone drilling cutting samples for quality analysis for potential blending operations at the quarry.
- Continuously learn management activities to act as a Quarry Manager when required
- Available for working some weekends or be on call basis as required
