EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related program is required; 1 - 2 years of experience working with students required, ideally in a student development or advising capacity.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform simple mathematical computations Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Excel Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Santos Manuel Student Union Queer and Transgender Resource Center (QTRC) Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing programs and initiatives to meet the diverse needs for the students on campus as well as supervising student staff, managing the QTRC, and collaborating with campus partners to directly support the success of queer and transgender students on campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.
- Coordinates all programs, services, and administrative functions for the QTRC.
- Supervises student staff and manages the QTRC
- Promotes and assists in the development of policies, procedures and programs that assure the well-being and development of our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Queer Plus (LGBTQ+) identifying students, affirm human dignity, and champion cultural pluralism across campus.
- Provides operational leadership for the coordination of multicultural and international related programming, including but not limited to LGBTQ+ History Month, Annual Drag Show, and semesterly programs for the center.
- Supports the Assistant Director with assessment of all programs including developing an annual report for the department.
- Coordinates and advances the dialogue around race, gender, and sexual orientation through campus programs and conversation. Develops and maintains a robust team of trained student and staff facilitators, facilitate programming in and out of the classroom, and engages in education and training.
- Supports the director with fiscal management for the QTRC including preparing the annual budget, reviewing and approving quarterly budget requests, and monitoring the QTRC budget.
- Represents the QTRC on committees, both on and off campus, to advance the needs of queer and transgender students.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for supervising QRTC student staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
