We are seeking a versatile and highly skilled R&D Applications Engineer to join our biotechnology team. This role combines expertise in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and automation to design, develop, build and test advanced automated systems. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, and related fields, or time served in a Science or Engineering field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Electrical Automation Engineer or in a similar multidisciplinary role.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
- Programming skills in C or related language.
- Knowledge of pressure systems, automation, building proof of principle electronics, writing prototype control software, mechanical drives, ergonomics, user interface, microfluidics, bio-medical technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
This is a research and development role requiring a highly creative individual, able to observe a problem, create concepts with identification of where risks lie, test and mature them for implementation in a wider system.
- Design and develop integrated mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and 3D models using Solidworks CAD software.
- Select appropriate mechanical and electrical components, ensuring compatibility and performance
This role requires a hands-on individual, with expertise to build and test complex components and assemblies.
- Integrate mechanical and electrical systems with automated controls to create intricate scientific instrumentation.
- Conduct simulations and physical tests to validate system performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mechanical, electrical, and control systems
This role requires an excellent communicator, both able to collaborate in a wider project team (internal and external) and work independently to develop new technologies and applications. Clearly recording design decisions.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance guides.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes, test results, and project progress.
- Present technical reports, proposals, and updates to stakeholders and management
