Description:

R&D Assistant (Intern) based in Singapore

Responsible for assisting in the delivery of engineering activities to enable R&D group to design and commercialise new products. Provide practical, analytical and quality assurance support to enable the New Product Development (NPD) Team to successfully achieve challenging and time critical objectives and goals.
What will you be doing?

This role will be both office and laboratory based and will involve practical testing on various development projects.

  • Focus on the following duties and responsibilities:
  • NPD Project Delivery – Supporting the delivery of designated projects by providing practical and analytical input including-
  • Literature Review of journal papers and patents
  • Development and introduction of new test methods
  • Testing of prototype samples including for performance, product stability, product safety and transit
  • Testing of competitor products to support the effective commercialisation of Smith and Nephew product portfolio
  • Software integration for electrical devices
  • Compilation of reports as appropriate and recommendation of actions to the project team
  • Quality Assurance - Contributing to the improvement of local systems and ways of working to ensure that the high quality of the work performed by the section is maintained.
  • Health and Safety - To apply high standards of occupational Health & Safety in the workplace to align with company policy and procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance - To perform all activities in compliance with relevant GMP and Quality System standards and specifically with ISO 13485.

What will you need to be successful?

Success in the role will require a combination of technical knowledge, soft skills, and a deep understanding of both the business and service-providing sides of an organization. Successful candidates would need the following:

  • Currently studying towards an engineering diploma.
  • Basic level of lab testing knowledge with good practical ability
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office. Knowledge of AutoCAD (viewing and editing) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written skills particularly the ability to document findings clearly and logically so that understood by both internal and external individuals
  • Strong time management/organization skills
