At NOVO Energy we enable Volvo Cars electrification goals. We are now looking for a Data Engineer. We offer you a role with great freedom to solve the tasks required to support the organization, you will be a key player in shaping the software landscape at NOVO Energy.
You will, together with a small team, develop a state-of-the-art Battery Research Platform to enable the R&D researchers and engineers to push the boundaries of automotive battery cell design. We are NOVO Energy, a start-up, with the benefit of funding and expertise from our two strong mother companies, Northvolt & Volvo Cars. You will report to the R&D Cell Platforms Director (managing Cell Design Department) and work cross-functionally, collaborating closely with the battery cell developers and other parts of the R&D organization, as well as Volvo and Northvolt.
What You’ll Do
Our primary mission in the Software Team is modeling, collecting, and making available the data from our research lab to the organization through our Platform. This ranges from handling manual data entry from CRUD applications to machine integrations ingesting millions of data points per day. You will assist the team in delivering high quality datasets to researchers and key stakeholders, and drie the organization towards the use of prediction methods and machine learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Communication and Collaboration. You will work together with researchers, designers, and engineers to deliver data-driven solutions to meet their needs.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines to ensure data integrity.
  • Design and implement reusable systems for extracting, transforming, and loading data from diverse sources into centralized repositories and reporting systems.
  • Continuously improve data quality, workflow reliability, and scalability by exploring and implementing pioneering technologies and solutions.
  • We are a small team. You need to be comfortable with fixing things when they break and take ownership of your solutions end-to-end.
    Your Background

To thrive in the role you need to have an entrepreneurial spirit and a “can do” attitude in combination with the below technical skillset:

  • Strong expertise in SQL Databases - Relational databases (E.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MSSQL, etc) - Columnar/Time-series databases (E.g., Clickhouse, StarRocks, Timescale, Hydra, etc)
  • Proficiency in modern data stack tools like Airbyte, DBT, Soda, BigEye, and Airflow for data ingestion, transformation, quality and orchestration as well as business intelligence tools like Apache Superset.
  • Familiarity with major cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with one or more additional programming languages like Rust or Type/Javascript.
  • Bonus points - Expertise in GitHub Actions, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, or Nomad/Consul for automation and orchestration within dynamic infrastructure. - Experience with Industrial Iot and Industrial protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet, etc)
