Chrono Aviation was founded in Quebec City in 2012. In its early days, the airline operated a Pilatus PC-12 and employed two pilots. Chrono quickly attracted customers looking for a comfortable, efficient and safe flying experience.
After a decade in business, Chrono Aviation has increased its fleet to 15 aircraft and employs more than 280 people. Chrono is the only airline in Quebec to offer aircraft that can accommodate from 9 to 120 passengers exclusively for charter. With bases in Montreal and Quebec City, Chrono Aviation continues to expand and strengthen its leadership position in the air charter industry in Quebec and Canada.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 3 years’ experience in technological research and development and application development projects (in the aeronautical sector would be an asset).
  • Basic knowledge of MySQL, C++, C#, Kotlin, Swift, Java, Lua, Linux, Windows, TCP and UDP.
  • Experience on flight simulators (an asset)
  • Fluency in French is required for this position. A working knowledge of English is also required in order to interact with English-speaking suppliers in Canada and elsewhere in the world.

Responsibilities:

ROLE AND CONTEXT

The R&D Developer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the flight simulator and the computer systems and software applications used by Chrono Aviation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the R&D Manager in designing and implementing technological research strategies in line with the company’s objectives.
  • Participate in the successful implementation of technological projects, from concept to completion.
  • Respecting regulatory compliance in the aeronautical sector.
  • Providing regular reports on the progress of projects and the results achieved.
  • Contributing to the culture of innovation within the R&D team.
  • Working with other departments to effectively integrate technological advances into the company’s operations.
  • Developing and programming computer applications using programming languages.
  • Working with operational teams to integrate software solutions into Chrono Aviation’s business processes.
  • Carrying out unit and integration tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the applications developed.
  • Documenting technical specifications, development processes and system configurations.
  • Ensuring data security and protecting IT systems against threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Providing technical assistance to users and resolving problems with applications and IT systems.
  • Monitoring technological trends and proposing continuous improvements to existing systems and processes.
  • Working with other members of the IT team to ensure that IT solutions are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
