Description:
Mangrove Lithium, a Vancouver based company, has developed a breakthrough platform for the most cost-effective production of battery grade lithium hydroxide and carbonate from diverse input streams and assets. Mangrove’s modular solution can be scaled to any capacity and co-located with upstream lithium producers or cathode and cell manufacturers. We a currently procuring equipment for a commercial plant located in Delta, BC.
POSITION
Mangrove is seeking an exceptional individual to play a key role in developing and commercializing its technology. The R&D Engineer will work with the Technology Development, Operations and Engineering teams on investigating and improving key unit operations and processes of Mangrove’s technology. A candidate for this position will have a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles including chemistry, mass transfer, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics crystallization and electrochemistry and enjoy working in the lab developing processes. The position offers the opportunity to work at dynamic company with significant potential for growth and career development.
Required Education, Experience, Skills and Characteristics
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science/engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- 3-plus years experience developing industrial chemical processes and equipment.
- Experience in lithium processing including brines and hard rock is preferred.
- Experience in the solid crystallization and separation processes is preferred.
- Proven ability to design, execute and analyze experiments.
- Demonstrated ability to create mathematical models for complex systems.
- Proven problem-solving and communications skills.
- Cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, potentiostatic and galvanostatic testing and durability testing of electrochemical components.
- Materials characterization techniques (e.g., XRD, SEM, EDX, FTIR, …)
- Person of high integrity and credibility.
- Proactive, hands-on and able work independently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated, flexible and passionate about learning.
- Ability and desire to work with a multidisciplinary team on a shared mission.
