POSITION SUMMARY:

The R&D Lab Assistant will support the R&D team in developing, testing, and optimizing absorbent products. This role involves conducting tests, analyzing data, and maintaining lab equipment. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to our future innovation.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • Conduct routine and non-routine tests on materials and products according to test procedures
  • Prepare samples and prototypes, ensuring objective and consistent testing
  • Maintain and clean laboratory and laboratory equipment
  • Record test results, maintaining and reporting accurate records in a timely manner
  • Communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Assist in the development of test methods and procedures to improve product testing accuracy and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues with laboratory instruments
  • Maintain up-to-date records, including test results and procedures
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing test results and findings, as appropriate
  • Collaborate with R&D team members to support ongoing projects and new product development
  • Read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operation/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Apply basic mathematical concepts, including standard conversions, calculating percentages, measurements, etc.
  • Perform basic computer skills and be willing to learn applicable software
  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the department
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline preferred (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, or Materials Science).
  • Prior experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in an R&D or product development environment
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques and basic laboratory equipment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain precise records
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to occasionally stand, walk, sit; Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; Reach with hands and arms; Climb or balance; and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
