Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Position is responsible for the daily operations of the synthesis laboratory. This includes routine maintenance of instruments and equipment. Performs standard and experimental reactions in support of existing business and new opportunities. Performs laboratory synthesis to provide process guidance to operations and to optimize batch time and process conditions.

EDUCATION:

Masters degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Textile Chemistry.

EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops new finishes and modifies existing formulations.
  • Trained to run esterification reactions and other synthesis processes.
  • Tests finishes to confirm performance to product specifications. Document as required.
  • Leads interactions with customers to determine finish requirements.
  • Create reports for internal and external customers.
  • Attends customer evaluations and can lead where appropriate.
  • Testing/evaluating customer products.
  • Monitor and approve new production batches.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
