Job: R&D Tax Assistant Manager
Salary: £40,000 or €49,000 depending on qualifications & experience.
Reports to: Associate Director
Location: Manchester & Dublin | Office-based
WE’RE SEEKING SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE INCLUDING:
- Strong technical knowledge of the UK and Ireland’s tax credits.
- Proven project management skills, capable of handling multiple live projects concurrently while managing workload effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, serving as the main point of contact for managed projects with various stakeholders.
- Coaching and delegation abilities, supporting the growth of technical expertise and soft skills within the team.
- Strong written skills for report writing, technical memo drafting, and concise advice notes.
- Analytical skills for numerical analysis of client data.
- ATT/CTA part qualified or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Due to our continued expansion, CBTax is seeking several Assistant Managers to support the firm’s growth across the UK & Ireland. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing projects and work streams, and ensuring the delivery of innovative client services. You will work closely with the Associate Director, Senior Managers, and Associates to achieve high-quality results and drive business growth in the UK & Ireland.
Applicants should ideally have experience in R&D and/or Tax and be looking to further develop their management skills in a dynamic environment. A keen interest in R&D is advantageous but not essential. We are seeking organised, hard-working, and ambitious individuals who are passionate about best practices and proactive in their approach.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL:
- Prepare government incentive claims related to R&D projects, such as R&D tax credits and Patent Box claims.
- Draft detailed technical reports to support the R&D projects included in the claims.
- Coordinate and liaise with clients, colleagues, and HMRC to ensure claims are optimised and deadlines are met.
- Prepare HMRC submission documents supporting R&D claims.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing project delivery and cultivating strong relationships.
- Respond to HMRC queries or liaise with them on behalf of clients regarding R&D claims.
- Offer advice on tax technical points to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Supervise junior team members and update senior stakeholders on project progress.
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities, such as networking, client outreach, and partnership opportunities.
- Collaborate within a strong, team-oriented environment.
- Manage and mentor Associates.
