Description:
SUMMARY
The R&D Verification Engineer joins the validation team to conduct software testing of ANSYS applications such as OpticStudio and its add-in modules. This role helps to assess how well the product meets customer needs, both in terms of functionality and usability, using physic based optical simulation. This role also ensures that product requirements and quality standards are satisfied as per the company’s quality procedures. The individual works closely with other members of the product creation team and communicates with technical specialists on product issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Optical Engineering or directly related field with 1-3 years of experience or MS with no experience.
- 1+ years of OpticStudio experience
- Good communication and interpersonal skills (conversational English skills are required)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Solid foundation in optical physics
- Familiar with software validation and testing
- 1+ years of experience using Python (and/or MATLAB) for computational analysis and/or modeling
- Industrial experience designing, building, and/or testing optical products
- Technical knowledge and experience with the OpticStudio Application Programming Interface (ZOS-API)
- Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
- Passion for the customer and product quality and a strong attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to distill problems down to their simplest form

Responsibilities:
- Specify and write test cases, create, modify and update existing tests, write and maintain test scripts
- Perform functional and regression testing in manual and automated test environments
- Verify defect fixes and write software defect reports
- Create test plans, participate in defect management and testing metrics
- Apply standard techniques and procedures and comply with the company’s overall development and testing processes
- Work in a variety of computing environments: Windows, Linux, VM’s, Cloud
- Effectively communicate with both scientific and programming staff
