Hiring Unit: Department of Geography
Position Summary:
- Responsible for conducting land cover analyses using Landsat and other remote sensing products, including classification, verification and quantitative assessment in the Peruvian Amazon as part of the Peruvian Amazon Rural Livelihoods and Poverty Project.
- Satellite imagery procurement, management and analysis
- Preparation of memos reporting findings
- Preparation of figures, tables and other supporting documents.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- Geospatial Analysis - experience with land cover classification, water mapping, time series analysis, object-based image analysis and accuracy assessments.
- Experience in working with Google Earth engine, ArcGIS and QGIS
- Ability to read and write in Spanish
Experience and Education:
- MSc in Environmental Sciences or related fields
- Experience with remote sensing analysis and GIS
- Prior experience working on imagery from Peru
Location:
This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
