Description:

Our Chalk River location is looking for a Radiation Protection (RP) Supervisor to be responsible for the development, deployment, and field oversight of assigned employees. Responsibilities:

  • Effectively managing the utilization of FD (Facilities Decommissioning) RP Staff to achieve FD project requirements and milestones.
  • Ensuring that correct RP instruments and techniques are being used to support decommissioning projects and meet the requirements of the CRL Decommissioning Facilities and Radiation Protection Programs.
  • Providing advice on RP resource utilization and the latest technological developments in the radiation protection field.
  • Taking accountability for forecasting staffing needs, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, initial and ongoing training.
  • Taking responsibility for continuing observation and coaching, performance management, appraisals and evaluations.
  • Taking responsibility for personnel time management, staffing allocation and arranging overtime resources as required by operational needs.
  • Requesting and correlating information required for reports including compilation and processing through TRAK, (i.e., compliance surveys, routine duties and RP Logs).
  • Monitoring, directing and evaluating the performance of personnel (~ 35 RP Staff) to ensure that work is performed to the specific standards of the Radiation Protection Program and to the level descriptor expectations of the collective bargaining unit if relevant.
  • Soliciting, evaluating and using advice, as appropriate, on technical matters from staff and from technical and safety support groups and provides technical report documentation.
  • Initiating and supporting teamwork and collaboration.
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Identifying important information and conveying it effectively in oral and written format to organizational members, industry colleagues, project partners and customers and positively impact organization success.
  • Responsibly managing assigned budget resources.
  • Effectively managing the utilization of budget, projects, people and equipment to achieve targets.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
