You will have access to cutting edge training in Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) for 18-24 months, with some roles completing placements at other locations throughout the USA during the full course of the assignment.

Responsibilities:
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking candidates to undertake opportunities to deploy to US Navy shipyards (primarily Pearl Harbour, Hawaii) before the end of 2024. Placements will be between 18-24 months. During this time, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training.
Upon completion of the training, Radioactive Waste Technicians are responsible for safe transportation of low level radioactive waste from onboard the submarine to a controlled facility on site and associated maintenance work of the water treatment plant.
This work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
Opportunities are available immediately and individuals wishing to express interest in a position should be available and interested in being repatriated in the near term.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Living and working in WA will be non-negotiable so please consider this when applying.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
- Handling of low level radioactive waste (solid and liquid); including removing and transferring accumulated radioactive waste from the submarine and transferring potentially contaminated water from the submarine to a controlled facility for processing.
- Categorising radioactive waste within the storage facility and managing the long-term storage of this waste.
- Escorting the radioactive waste within the site.
- Responsible for waste receipting and recording.
- Operate water treatment plant within the radiological control facility.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on water treatment plant equipment.
- Understand and comply with strict radiological procedures for the safe handling of radioactive material.
