Description:

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is Europe’s largest Oncology centre with sites in Chelsea and Sutton. The Clinical Services Division is looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to lead our Nuclear Medicine Department (conventional Nuclear Medicine, PET CT and Nuclear Medicine Therapies). The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of all Radioisotope Services over both sites, maintaining effective close working relationships between departments across the Trust, working closely and effectively with the relevant Clinical Leads and Scientists.
The candidate will be expected to have a strong, consistent and effective leadership background, enabling high quality patient care whilst keeping within available resources. They will develop core services, ensuring clinical governance and improve quality of care as well as support the exploration of alternative models of service delivery.
The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of all Radioisotope Services over both sites. The post holder will be the Trust’s lead for Conventional Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine Therapies (NMT) and will promote this service and enhance the reputation of the Trust both internally and externally through participation and attendance at National and International meetings. The post holder will be expected to participate fully in training of staff, locally, nationally and internationally, and will form links with educational institutions to facilitate this. The post holder will advise the Trust Board on professional issues relating to the Radioisotope Service. The postholder will be a member of the Medical Exposures Committee, the Radiation Protection Committee, the Clinical Research Operational Group. The postholder will liaise with other Services Manager to ensure ongoing participation in the Nursing Research and Rehabilitation Advisory Committee.
This post will demand patient contact as well as managerial and supervisory skills.

To facilitate role extension of radiographers and imaging staff, to enable cross covering of I maging Services.
To facilitate clinical placements for student radiographers / nuclear medicine technologists and to liaise with UK and international universities to enable this.
To ensure that all professional staff participate in Continual Professional Development
To ensure that all non-clinical staff participate in continuous development.
To monitor sickness/absence levels and where necessary implement corrective action
