Description:

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our friendly and busy department.
If you are organised, have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team this may be the job for you.
You will work in the Radiology department, on the reception desk, answering the phone and booking Imaging appointments.
This role will be based across all sites, with full training provided.
You will be an experienced self-starter with proven administrative skills, with an ability to efficiently and effectively prioritise a fluctuating workload.
Flexibility and resilience is key in this role.
The successful candidate will have a highly professional manner and approach.
Work as part of the imaging appointment booking team, liaising with clinicians and patients to negotiate the most suitable appointment date and time for all Radiology procedures.
Provide an efficient and effective administration service to the Radiology team and wider service department.
Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Trust policy.
Understand the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure a safe working environment for patients, staff and visitors according to the Trusts’ Health and Safety Policy.
Participate in an extended working day rota if implemented.

Record all patients onto the patient administration system (Cerner) and Computed Radiology Information System (CRIS) ensuring data accuracy and highlighting any urgent referrals.
Use initiative to provide an efficient administrative service for the Radiology team.
Use judgement and decision-making skills to offer and negotiate the most suitable appointment date and time for patients through the Radiology Information System (CRIS). Ensuring all appointment slots are fully utilised to maximise departmental capacity.
To deal with telephone enquiries regarding Radiology appointments, ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained.
Attend patients when they attend their appointments on the patient administration system (CRIS).
To deal with written and telephone enquiries concerning amending imaging appointments.
To assist the wider Team in cancelling and rearranging imaging appointments.
To deal with patient queries and anxieties in a sensitive and caring manner. To communicate with distraught and angry patients in a calm and reassuring manner, whilst being understanding, helpful and attentive.
May be required to contact the referring clinicians if patients do not respond, to check if they still require the examination.

Responsibilities:

To liaise with Superintendents and Nursing Sisters to book “special” procedures involving multi-professional teams.
To deal with doctors queries regarding patients’ appointments as is deemed appropriate.
To advise patients on waiting list times as appropriate.
To open incoming post; sort, distribute and prioritise into job allocation.
To check levels of stationary and other non-medical items. Order as appropriate.
To participate in Service Improvement
