JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Imaging Director, the Radiology Assistant will perform and assume responsibilities thereof as assigned in accordance with the mission, visions, and values of Ashe Memorial Hospital (AMH) which is necessary to maintain the efficient productive operation of the laboratory.
EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- Background in medical terminology preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of imaging modalities preferred but not required.
- Excellent phone and customer service skills.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Courteously answers and screens telephone calls, addressing needs or directing to appropriate person, taking messages as required. Responds to visitors promptly, directing to appropriate person or department.
- Answer the door courteously and with a smile, assisting the patient in a manner that puts the patient first.
- Print daily schedules and review orders for all modalities.
- Assist in bringing patients to/from the waiting room to the Imaging Department.
- Push images through PowerShare to other facilities.
- Receives and completes CryptoChart requests.
- Burns CDs when needed.
- Has general knowledge of Imaging operations and imaging exams.
- Organizes and completes assigned tasks.
- Accomplishes assigned written communication accurately and timely.
- Locates and faxes or distributes requested information to appropriate parties while maintaining confidentiality of medical information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SECONDARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verbally introduce themselves and their position to the patient.
- Fax reports as requested promptly and accurately.
- Notify technologists of all ASAP and STAT orders.
- Attend as many non-mandatory staff meetings as possible.
- Ensure the security of the departmental information to protect confidential information.
Communicate effectively with others and maintain good rapport with others for achieving department goals.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes required orientation as directed by facility.
- Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
- Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.
- Upholds HIPAA regulations.
- Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts.
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Wears identification while on duty according to policy.
- Adheres to the Attendance Policy.
- Attends 75% of departmental meetings.
- Supports the hospital and promotes a positive attitude.
- Reports any violation or appearance of violation of the policies and procedures and/or laws and regulations addressed in the Compliance Plan and the hospital code of Conduct to the Compliance Officer, to a member of Key Management, or to the Department Manager.
Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption). Candidates for employment will be notified of this policy requirement prior to the start of employment. After receiving an offer of employment, new employees must provide proof of vaccination or request and receive an exemption before beginning work.
