Description:

Successful candidates will have professional registration as a clinical technologist, healthcare scientist or healthcare science practitioner. Applications are also invited from unregistered technicians who may be appointed to a lower grade until relevant qualifications, experience and registration have been achieved, typically through the IPEM clinical technologist training scheme. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Medical Equipment Management - Participate in the management of medical devices including installation, planned maintenance, calibration, diagnosis, repair, modification, and upgrade of radiotherapy equipment. - Provide direct technical support and advice to radiotherapy managers, key trainers, and users of the technology.

  • Participate in an on-call system that provides equipment management services outside of normal working hours. - Be aware of the safety and reliability aspects of any medical device they may be involved with and take appropriate action to deal with any discrepancies. - Carry out risk analysis and risk management as part of medical device management. Management of Information - Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Keep accurate and timely records of work completed. - Communicate complex technical information to a range of staff groups within the radiotherapy department and external equipment manufacturers, contractors and other personnel. Clinical and Scientific Support - Provide technical services to formal clinical research and development activity based on best industry practices. Professional & Managerial - Within their own area of expertise, supervise, mentor, teach, and train members of staff from within and outside of the group including medical engineering apprentices, trainee clinical technologists, clinical scientists and other users of radiotherapy technology.
  • Produce and update procedures that are relevant to their own area of expertise to maintain the RTS ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. - Carry out and organise internal resource management including work equipment maintenance and store area management. - Ensure that Trust policies and safe working practices are followed by themselves and any personnel who may come under their control.
