JOB SUMMARY:
RailPros is seeking an experienced Area Engineering Manager to drive the success of our regional operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a diverse range of responsibilities, including prospecting for new clients, tracking business development, engaging in regional industry events, monitoring financial performance, and coordinating resource needs. You will also focus on employee mentoring, enhancing communication, and identifying training opportunities, while assisting with secondary duties such as national conference presentations, organizational leadership, and budget management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Proficient with electronic communications, including e-mail and text, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and presentation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of the engineering industry and trends.
- Ability to foster a culture of quality, growth, and continuous improvement.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Established relationships within the area, including consultants and clients.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
- Proven leadership experience in regional or departmental roles.
- Experience in business development, client and project management within the area.
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
- 10+ years of experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Masters Degree in Engineering.
- Commitment to life-long learning to stay updated with contemporary issues.

Responsibilities:
- Identify and explore potential clients and business opportunities within the area.
- Encourage cross-selling and collaboration across service lines.
- Track and prioritize business development and sales activities, collaborating with the Business Development team.
- Attend and evaluate regional industry events and sponsorship opportunities.
- Monitor financial performance of area client accounts and projects; identify cost-saving and revenue enhancement opportunities.
- Assess resource needs for projects and coordinate hiring efforts.
- Provide mentoring and career development for staff; foster employee engagement.
- Implement effective communication strategies within the area and with corporate headquarters.
- Facilitate internal and external training to keep staff updated with industry best practices.
- Assist in organizational leadership, strategic decision-making, and growth planning.
- Manage client contracts, invoicing, and accounts receivable.
- Participate in developing and managing the areas budget, monitoring expenses, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
