SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experienced WHS Practitioner in Rail/Construction with strong onsite experience.
  • Thorough understanding of the relevant Rail Safety legislation and regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and implement safety initiatives and programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement including internal and external parties.
  • Confident leadership and team management skills.
  • Relevant Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Health and Safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust rail safety management system with CPB’s RIM accreditation and other relevant regulation.
  • Develop, implement and maintain rail safety interface plans with key stakeholders.
  • Provide technical direction, coaching and guidance to project-based safety professionals and interfacing teams.
  • Conduct regular assurance activities to identify potential hazards and risks, and develop mitigation strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Investigate rail incidents and accidents, conducting thorough root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and oversee the delivery of safety training programs for rail designated workers
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, project and industry stakeholders and emergency service organisations to ensure compliance and maintain industry relationships.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the management team, fostering a collaborative and proactive safety culture.
